Yasuko Noda or Norwood, formerly a long time resident of Walpole passed peacefully on February 23, 2022 at the age of 80. Beloved partner/wife of the late Thomas F. Dowd. Devoted mother of Koji Dowd and his partner Maria Mullarky. She is survived by her adored Grandchildren, Matthew and Madison of Plainville and many nieces in Japan and in Massachusetts. She is pre-deceased by her three brothers and sister all of whom were from Japan.
She was known and loved by many in Walpole as she was employed in the school lunch service from Elm St School to Walpole High. Early in life was not so easy as she survived the U.S. bombing of her city of Nagasaki, Japan along with her family. Once meeting her partner of over 40 years, Thomas Dowd, she decided to move to Walpole, MA and start a family. She was mostly a homemaker until her son graduated from college and she started working in the Walpole schools. Her hobbies included her vast garden in her back yard, birds and her cats but, her love was her friends, family and her grandkids. She was known to help others before she would ask for any help for herself. She left this earth with an effect on everyone she met.
Internment will be a private ceremony in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either the MSPCA of Massachusetts or FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia, Alzheimers Disease) Unit of Massachusetts General Hospital.
