Terence R. McCourt, known affectionately as Terry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, MA, on March 24, 1945, Terry's vibrant spirit and warm heart touched the lives of many throughout his remarkable 80 years.

Terry was the beloved husband of the late Carol Griffin-McCourt and the former husband of Elpiniki Bratsis. He was a devoted father to Nicholas McCourt of Vermont, Stephanie Degnan and her husband Kevin of Westford, and stepfather to Tina Hart. His role as a cherished brother was equally important, and he is survived by Ruth Mary Barba, Kathleen Puccia, and remembered with love by his late brother, Thomas McCourt. Terry's joy for life shone brightest in his role as "Papa" to Nicholas, Alexander, and Theodore (Degnan), and "Pa" to Mathew, Alyssa, and Megan (Hart). His extended family, including many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends, especially Michael Barba and Skip, will deeply miss his presence. Terry's neighbors at Sunset Acres in Plainville also held a special place in his heart, and the community will fondly remember his generous spirit.

A proud graduate of Boston Trade School, Terry dedicated over three decades of service as a Boston Fire Fighter with Engine 42 in Roxbury. His work ethic and commitment to the community were unparalleled, but his passion for craftsmanship led him to simultaneously own and operate McCourt Woodworking. His skillful hands created beautiful kitchen cabinets and various woodworking projects that are cherished by many.

Terry's interests were as varied as they were rich. An avid car enthusiast, he lovingly restored a collection of antique cars, pouring his soul into every detail. The thrill of the open road called to him, and he could often be found riding his motorcycle or cruising in his Corvette, feeling the wind in his hair and the sun on his face. His love for the water was just as strong, and he seized every opportunity to cast a line and enjoy the tranquility of fishing.

Nature and the outdoors were Terry's sanctuary, and he shared this passion with all who knew him. His loyal dog, Sandy, was a constant companion by his side, whether they were exploring the wilderness or simply enjoying the serenity of his well-tended garden. The fruits of his labor, especially his renowned tomatoes, were a testament to his green thumb and love for gardening. In the winter months, Terry's adventurous spirit didn't wane, as he took to the slopes with the same enthusiasm he had for life, always ready to ski and embrace the crisp mountain air.

Described by those who knew him best as loving, adventurous, and handy, Terry's ability to fix, create, and nurture was evident in every aspect of his life. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless memories shared with friends and family. Terry's life story is a testament to the power of passion and the impact one person can have on the world around them.

Terry McCourt's journey through life was a beautiful tapestry woven with dedication, joy, and an unquenchable zest for life. He will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on, a guiding light of love and strength for generations to come.
