Susan Petrosky Obituary

Susan Eileen Petrosky of Eastham, MA, died comfortably on Friday, November 28, 2025. Susan is survived by her daughter, Sasha Petrosky, granddaughter Mischa and grandsons Davis and Travis of Walpole, MA. She is predeceased by her son Justin Petrosky (10/3/2025) and her husband and high school sweetheart John Petrosky (10/28/2002).

Susan grew up in Easton, PA. She was affectionately known as “Nattie” by the Wilson High School class of ‘63, Nurse “Sue” at St. Luke’s School of Nursing and by her patients, “mom” by her children and “SUSU” by her grandkids. She was a kind woman who spent her entire life caring for those around her - often putting the needs of others above her own. She was extremely social and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She had a quirky sense of humor and was known for saying anything on her mind. She was also one tough cookie.

In her high school yearbook, she was described as “An attractive majorette with a beautiful smile”. She remained lifelong friends with her classmate Brenda Bubba VanNortwick who recalls crazy adventures, late night excursions at the diner, twirling/cheering together at football games and always finding a way to go to the Notre Dame High School dances.

She was an excellent nurse with vast medical knowledge and a compassionate bedside manner. Her private duty patients saw her as family. The Orleans Convalescent and Nursing Home residents appreciated her care, humor and creativity with fun activities.

As a mom she always made our birthdays special. Every year we chose the perfect cake to celebrate. When she worked nights as a nurse, she would turn on the flashing light on our red pick-up truck for us as we looked out the window. She supported all of our activities. She signed me up for dance when I was 3 and later figure skating taking me to competitions all over the Northeast, including to Chicago to attend Nationals. She attended every sporting event, whether it was field hockey, soccer, track and field or baseball. She always made sure my brother had what he wanted - a Redline bike, top of the line baseball bat, fishing gear and a fishing boat.

The town of Eastham has my mom to thank for her partnership with Winn Deschamps to establish Windmill Weekend. A tradition celebrating the end of the summer recently commemorating its 50th year and still running strong.

As a grandmother, she was proudly there to see the birth of her first grandchild, Mischa and was thrilled to welcome Davis and Travis to the family to carry on the next generation.  She looked forward to seeing her grandkids over the summer on the Cape. Many laughs were had by all playing boardgames and cards. She always enjoyed crabbing with the grandkids and competing to catch the biggest crab of the season.

Life is a journey shaped by our personal choices and experiences. Every day is a lesson, and what we learn gives us knowledge to make choices that determine our future. No regrets, just making the best decisions we can based on the information presented.

Mom, may you now be at peace and pain-free. I love you and miss you dearly. Please be carefree and try not to worry. Take deep breaths in through your nose and exhale out through your mouth. I was always there for you mom, that is what family does for each other.

A celebration of my mom’s life will be held at my home in Walpole on Sunday, December 7th from 12:00-4:00 pm. The event will have a Red Sox theme as she was an avid fan. I am not sure she ever missed watching a game.

Please, in lieu of flowers, take a loved one to a Red Sox game to create a memory that will last a lifetime.
