Sheila Grove Obituary

Sheila Connors Grove died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on April 16th.  Sheila was born in Buffalo, NY, the eldest daughter of six children, to Regina Nolan Connors and Thomas J Connors.  She received a BS In mathematics from St Mary’s College in 1963 and joined IBM shortly after, where she worked for her entire career.  She married the love of her life, Michael Motte Grove (USN) in 1972.  They settled in Sharon MA and enjoyed theatre, travel, and sailing on their Friendship Sloop “The Margaret Motte”.

Sheila advanced to become a highly respected executive at IBM at a time when few women held senior leadership positions.  She was also a lifelong supporter of the Catholic church, committed to reforming the governance and leadership culture in the wake of the clergy abuse scandal.  She was as devoted to her German Shepherds as they were to her.  Adam provided great comfort to Sheila in her final days.

Her friends and family will remember her wise life advice, her strong opinions (carefully articulated), her fairness and generosity, and her remarkable combination of intellect, humor, and grace.

She is survived by Thomas Connors of Plano Texas; Sharon Connors Rougeau of Yorktown VA; Kathleen Connors Toussaint of Bryan TX; and Regina Connors of Stanford, NY.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Moorehead Griffin of Hopewell NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Motte Grove and her brother Robert Connors of Buffalo, NY.
