Monica (Doyle) Olen, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, at the golden age of 92. Born on September 1, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts, Monica was a beacon of love and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the cherished wife of the late Michael A. Olen and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Monica's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Monica Bentley of Plymouth, Michael J. Olen and his wife Linda of Scituate, formerly of Canton, and John Olen and his wife Patty of Mansfield. She was predeceased by her beloved children, Thomas D. Olen and Kathleen Olen. Monica took great joy in being the adoring "Grand MA" to Brian, Kim, Melissa, Jacquelyn, Selena, Tucker, Daniel, and Danielle, and she was a proud great-grandmother to six beautiful great-grandchildren. Her extended family of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends will forever treasure the memories they shared.
Throughout her life, Monica embraced the role of a homemaker with grace and joy, creating a warm and welcoming home that was the heart of many cherished family gatherings. Her love for gardening, knitting, and handicrafts was surpassed only by the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she cherished every moment.
Monica's zest for life was evident in her active lifestyle, especially during her time as a snowbird in the Myles Grant Community in Stuart, Florida. There, she was a vibrant member of the community, engaging in walking, swimming, and participating in all the clubhouse activities. Monica's love for cooking, her faith, and her church was a testament to her nurturing spirit.
An adventurous soul, Monica loved to travel, with Aruba being one of her favorite destinations. She enjoyed playing bingo and shopping. Her family fondly remembers the delightful Cape vacations she organized, creating lasting memories for all.
Those who knew Monica will recall her love for sweets, her keen eye for detail in her knitting and handicrafts, and her talent for making every holiday and family event special. Her kindness and creative spirit were the threads that wove her family together, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
Monica's life was a beautiful tapestry of devotion, kindness, and creativity. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we say farewell to Monica, we celebrate the rich and fulfilling life she led and the countless lives she touched with her loving presence.
