SOCHACKI, Mary Belle (Berger)April 11, 2021 at 95 years old.Mary graduated from Boston University with a BFA in Organ and a minor in Choral Music.Music was a passion and driving force for Mary and wherever she lived she formed choralgroups, recorder ensembles, and often was organist and/or choir director at the local church.She was a gifted choral director, transforming congregants into first class choirs. She oftensaid “Give me warm bodies and I can mold them into a choir.” Her love of early music led herto the Harpsichord which she enjoyed especially when part of an ensemble.Her many musical accomplishments include: starting an Orff Schulwerk program at the SouthShore Conservatory of Music in Hingham; staging productions of Britten’s Noye's Fludde, Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing TechnicolorDreamcoat which was acted by puppets! She also trained a boy soprano who sang for SarahCaldwell of the Opera Company of Boston.She was a formidable woman and will be missed by her family and friends.A Memorial Service will be held in Castine, ME at a future date.
