Loretta Busa Obituary

A Memorial Mass to celebrate Loretta's life will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, located at 573 Washington St, Newton. Friends and family are invited to gather in the Vestibule of the church prior to Mass (front of the church), from 9:30-10:15 AM, to share stories, embrace in fellowship, and honor the beautiful life of Loretta Busa.

Loretta Busa (Pellegrini), known affectionately as Loretta to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Born on January 25, 1955, in the heart of Newton, MA, Loretta's life was a tapestry of love, family, and quiet dedication.

Loretta's journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Anthony D. "Fat" Pellegrini and Joanne C. (Marchioni) Pellegrini. She grew up in a lively household with her siblings Joanne, Louise, April, Anthony D. "Fatty" Jr., Louis, and Linda, all of Newton, who would remain her lifelong friends.

At the age of 20, Loretta married Joseph Busa. They welcomed the birth of their daughter, Melanie Myers, who, along with her husband Billy Myers of Walpole, gave Loretta the joyous title, Nana. Her grandchildren, Matty and Ava Myers, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Loretta started her early career as a hairdresser, a profession she left to embrace a path that better suited her gentle and reserved nature. For 43 years, she dedicated herself to the Pellegrini Playground, named in honor of her mother, where she became a beloved fixture of the community.

With an eye for elegance, Loretta enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: having her hair styled each week, playing her favorite lottery numbers, and indulging in skincare. She had an impeccable sense of style, always dressing to impress with her long dresses, earrings, and full makeup. Her wardrobe was a reflection of her spirited personality, complete with a backup dress for weddings, ensuring she remained uniquely Loretta in any situation.

Loretta's love extended beyond her immediate family to her nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Her kindness was felt by all, and her presence was a comfort to those around her. Her heart and mind were perpetually filled with the well-being of her family, a testament to her loving nature.

A resident of the vibrant Nonantum neighborhood, affectionately known as "The Lake," Loretta was loved dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a fixture in the community, her kindhearted spirit touching the lives of many. Her love for family gatherings was evident in the joy she found in visiting her daughter's home in Walpole, where she would sit at the kitchen island, savoring a glass of red wine poured by her son-in-law Billy.

Loretta's legacy is one of love, kindness, and a spirited grace that enriched the lives of everyone she met. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to inspire and guide us. Loretta Busa lived a life full of purpose and warmth, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
