Joseph F. Botaish II, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on January 4, 1965, in Boston, MA, and lived a full and passionate life until the age of 60.
Joe was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Lohan) Botaish, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage after tying the knot in 1989. A devoted father, he leaves behind his daughter, Emily Willenborg and her husband Anthony of Yarmouth, and his son, Joseph Botaish of Wrentham. Joe was a cherished brother to Michael Botaish and his late wife Rosa of Franklin and Robyn Moses-Harney and her husband Troy Harney of Stratham, NH. Joe was also a loving "Jido" to his grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin. He was a son to Ann (Ferris) Botaish and the late Joseph Botaish. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who will hold his memory dear.
A proud graduate of West Roxbury High School in 1983, Joe furthered his education by receiving an Associate's Degree from Chamberlayne Junior College. His professional life was marked by dedication and success, notably serving as a Project Manager for Majestic Construction. For 19 years, Joe took great pride in each project and gave great attention to every detail. Joe shared his love of music by entering the DJ industry, where he shared his passion off and on from his years in high school up until recently.
Growing up, Joe was a member of the St. Maron's Society. Joe was deeply involved with his Lebanese heritage, which he celebrated with pride and joy through food and music. Family was the cornerstone of Joe's life. He took pride in hosting holidays at his home, providing delicious meals, and embracing the warmth and laughter that filled the rooms. His grandchildren were a particular source of joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His grandchildren will always remember the famous "Jido Meatballs," games of mini golf, and a shared love of football.
Joe had a deep commitment to his community which was evident through his civic engagement. He served as a Wrentham Selectman for 15 years, chairing the board for over half of that time and becoming the most re-elected selectman in Wrentham's history. He always said that Wrentham was a family and he treated every member as such. His contributions to the community were a testament to his spirited and passionate nature.
An avid golfer, Joe cherished the camaraderie of the game and the green fairways. He was a familiar face at Patriot's games, known for his love of tailgating. Travel was another joy in his life, with favorite destinations including Aruba, Cape Cod, and any place where he could sink his toes into the sand and listen to the waves.
Joe's intelligence shone through his political engagement and volunteer work. He was a fervent advocate for his beliefs and generously gave his time to the Boy Scouts and St. Mary's as a religious Education teacher in Wrentham.
To say that Joe was a spirited, passionate, and intelligent man would be an understatement. His impact on those around him was profound, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Joe's legacy is one of love, commitment, and service, and it will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. As we say farewell to Joseph F. Botaish II, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest and a man who gave so much to so many. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Joe’s family would like to extended a special thanks to Dr. Odejide and the entire team at Dana Farber (including the incredible nurses on the eighth floor) and his wonderful team at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
