Isabelle G. Gingras (Fraser) (Hurd), known lovingly to family and friends as Issie, passed away on April 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 23, 1934, in Walpole, Massachusetts, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and a spirit of adventure that touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered with deep affection by all who were fortunate enough to share in her long and meaningful life.

Issie graduated from Walpole High School in 1952 and carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and family with her throughout her life. In 1952, she married the late Edwin Fraser, and together they built a life rooted in love and family until his passing in 1978. In 1986, she married the late Richard Gingras, affectionately known as “Lucky,” and shared many cherished years with him until his passing in 2015. Her life was enriched by both marriages, and she embraced each chapter with grace and gratitude.

She worked in the Walpole Public Schools cafeteria beginning in 1967, where she served for more than 10 years and became a familiar and caring presence to many. She later worked for Marriott Food Service at Polaroid in Norwood, also in the cafeteria, where she spent about 10 years and met “Lucky.” Her work ethic, warm personality, and steady dedication left a lasting impression on those around her. After retiring, she and Lucky moved to Maine to build their dream house, a place that reflected her love of home, comfort, and the beauty of the world around her.

Issie found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and canning her own vegetables. She took great pleasure in looking out her window at the mountains in Maine, where she found peace and contentment in the beauty of nature. She enjoyed going to exercise class with her friends, spending time on the trails riding snowmobiles, and playing dominoes with her friends. Above all, she cherished hosting her whole family in Maine and looked forward to holidays and every opportunity when loved ones could gather together. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome, and she took great pride in making it that way.

She is survived by her children, Edwin Fraser and his wife Regina of Walpole, Debra Cunniff and her husband Paul of Walpole, and her late daughter, Cheryl Terpstra, and her surviving husband Timothy of Walpole. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Urquhart and Barbara’s deceased husband Rodrick of New Hampshire. She is also survived by her brother Warren Hurd and his wife Janet of Norfolk, and she was predeceased by her sister Theodora Urquhart of Walpole. Issie was a loving “Gram” to 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She was also a devoted stepmother to Daniel Gingras of Danvers, Massachusetts, the late Eric Gingras of Burlington, and Rene Gingras of Chelsea.

Those who knew Issie will remember her as loving, kind, and adventurous. She had a generous heart, a gentle way of making others feel welcome, and a strong appreciation for family and togetherness. Her life was a beautiful example of devotion to loved ones, resilience through life’s changes, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well lived. Her memory will remain a treasured blessing to all who loved her.

Though she is no longer with us, Issie’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the traditions she cherished, and the many lives she touched with her warmth and care. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will continue to be felt for generations to come.
