Ellis W.B. "Bill" Sutcliffe, a cherished husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 8, 1947, in Boston, MA, Bill's infectious spirit and passionate nature touched the lives of all who knew him.
After graduating from Newton High School in 1965, Bill bravely served his country in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 as a member of the United States Army. Upon returning home, he embarked on a successful career in paper sales with International Paper Company, where he dedicated over two decades of service.
In 1995, Bill wed the love of his life, Kathi (Degnan) Sutcliffe, and together they enjoyed 30 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to love and companionship, filled with shared joys and mutual support.
Bill was the beloved brother of Barbara Dusseault and her late husband Robert of Sandwich, and Jane Giessler and her husband Eric of Florida. His role as a brother was one he held close to his heart, always ensuring that the bonds of family remained strong and enduring.
An avid pool player, Bill was a competitive spirit on two different leagues, showcasing his skills and making lasting friendships along the way. His love for the game was only matched by his enthusiasm for golf, a pastime that brought him great pleasure and relaxation. Bill's membership in the Newton Elks further reflected his commitment to community and camaraderie.
Bill and Kathi's Falmouth became their "Happy Place." They loved welcoming family and friends for memorable cookouts, weekends and most especially July 4th celebrations, creating a home full of laughter and love.
As we bid farewell to Bill we remember him as an overall nice guy with a welcoming smile. We celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. He will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to be in our hearts.
