Born on June 5, 1932, in Boston, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Naughton) Gordon. Ellen was the devoted sister of Rita Kirwan and her late husband, Christopher, of Walpole and was predeceased by her sisters Catherine J. Hughes, her late husband John, and Mary T. Gillis, and her late husband Joseph. Her legacy of warmth and kindness lives on through her 10 loving nieces and nephews, along with 9 great-nieces and nephews, two great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
A proud graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School, Ellen's intelligence and charisma soon led her to a distinguished career in the advertising department of New England Electric Company, where she dedicated nearly 40 years of exceptional service. Her professionalism and spirit of cooperation made her a respected figure in her field and a beloved colleague.
Ellen's zest for life was contagious, and her passion for travel saw her traversing not only the rolling hills of Ireland, the historic streets of Italy, and the sacred sites of the Holy Land but also exploring the diverse landscapes of the United States. From the sun-kissed beaches of California and Florida to the vibrant cities and peaceful countrysides accessible by bus trips, Ellen's adventurous spirit knew no bounds.
A social butterfly, Ellen was the life of any gathering. Her vast circle of friends was a testament to her friendly nature, and she was often seen out enjoying the company of her companions. Whether it was a casual luncheon, an evening soiree, or a spontaneous get-together, Ellen's presence was a guarantee of good times and heartfelt conversations.
Her love for Irish music was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of her proud heritage and her ability to find joy in the melodies that spoke to her soul. Ellen's love for the genre brought her closer to her roots and allowed her to share the culture she held dear with those around her.
Described by those who knew her best as loving, adventurous, and friendly, Ellen J. Gordon lived a life that was as rich and vibrant as the places she visited and the music she adored. Her warmth radiated through her smile, her laughter, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She was baptized at St. Patrick’s in Roxbury, was a faithful member of St. Susanna’s parish in Dedham for over 20 years and Blessed Sacrament in Walpole for over 20 years.
