Daniel Schneider of Sharon passed peacefully on March 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family in his home at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Ellen Reilly (Clark). Son of the late Herbert and Doris Schneider and step son of the late Paula Schneider. Devoted father of Jessica Schneider of North Attleboro, Julia Schneider and her husband Mike Mahoney of North Carolina, and Eli Schneider and his wife Lindsey of Sharon. Cherished brother of Janet Hirschhorn of Methuen, Lewis Schneider and his wife Liz Abbe of New York, and Sam Schneider and his wife Sonia of Brookline. Loving "Grampa Danny" of Christian, Steven, Olivia, and David. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in laws, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited Friday, April 17, at 4pm-7pm to the Alexander F. Thomas and Sons Funeral Home (45 Common Street Walpole) for a memorial service. Gravesite funeral will be private.
Daniel felt deeply committed to helping his community through his work in transportation and mechanical engineering. He was transporting bridge beams essential for constructing parking garages. In another specialized transportation role, he responsibly fueled commuter rail trains traveling in and out of Boston, contributing to the daily lives of countless commuters.
Daniel embodied the phrase, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." He operated technologically modern transportation equipment and was proud to have helped build 11 LNG Carriers (Liquified Natural Gas) at Quincy Shipyard. With his light frame and stature, he embodied David, as he had the pleasure of operating the largest crane named Goliath.
He built his own home in his spare time. Everything from pouring cement, raising the frame, electrical wiring, setting granite at the fireplace, attaching interior blueboard, welding an artistic mailbox and adding a monogram to the exterior fireplace. He did things like driving his teenage children to after-school activities. Daniel was always working on farm equipment; even though it is one of the most dangerous professions, he was never injured by his work.
