Carolyn Corbo (Hansen), lovingly known as Carolyn, drew her last breath peacefully on May 17, 2024, at the venerable age of 92. Born on March 3, 1932, in Braintree, Massachusetts, Carolyn’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, devotion, and creative passion.
The beloved daughter of Walter Hansen and Annie (Cummings), Carolyn was a true embodiment of the values instilled in her during her formative years. Her journey through life was marked by the loving bonds she forged and the lives she touched. Carolyn was predeceased by her cherished husband, William Corbo Sr., who passed away in 2012. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Carolyn’s legacy continues through her children: William Corbo Jr. of Walpole, Debra Douglas and her late husband Robert of Litchfield, New Hampshire, and Peter Corbo of Walpole. As a foster mother, she opened her heart and home to Jonny Alan, Kerri, Michael, and Melanie, guiding them with the same love and care she provided her own children. Her siblings, the late Walter Hansen, Harry Hansen, Eleanor Gallagher, Doris Hansen, and her twin sister Elizabeth Clary, shared in the tapestry of her life, each thread representing cherished moments and memories.
Her role as a loving Nana to Tanya Corbo of Auburn was a source of immense joy, as was her role as a Great Nana to Blake Rosetti of Auburn. Carolyn’s warmth extended to her many loving nieces, nephews, and friends, each of whom felt the gentle embrace of her kindness and the strength of her faith.
A graduate of Norwell High School in 1949, Carolyn's path led her to John Hancock, where she contributed her skills for two years. She then embraced the role of homemaker, dedicating herself to raising her three children and caring for her four foster children with unwavering love and attention. Later in life, she returned to the workforce, contributing her talents to the Christian Science Publishing Society in their advertising department.
Carolyn’s life was enriched by her varied interests, which included cherished mother-daughter trips to Boothbay Harbor, the quiet focus of knitting, the joy of gardening, the creativity of painting, and the delight of making Wreaths. Each interest was a reflection of her love for life and the beauty she found in the world around her.
From 1994 to 2021, Carolyn resided in Hudson, New Hampshire, before making her final move to Walpole, Massachusetts. In every place she called home, she left an indelible mark of her loving presence and kind spirit.
Carolyn was the epitome of a faith-filled life, her actions and words always reflecting the deep love and kindness she carried within her heart. Those who knew her were blessed by her gentle guidance, her unwavering support, and her ability to see the good in every person and situation.
A celebration of Carolyn’s remarkable life will be held at the Alexander Thomas Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, from 9 am to 11 am, with a service commencing at 11 am. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend and share in honoring a life that was truly well-lived.
Carolyn’s story is not one of an ending, but a beautiful continuation in the memories and lives of those she loved. Her spirit, a beacon of love and kindness, will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched.
