Brian J Sousa, Jr

Brian Joseph Sousa, Jr.  (BJ) passed away suddenly on Saturday April 16, 2022.  He was 49 years old.  Born in Taunton, MA, Brian attended Massasoit Community College where he earned an associates degree in Criminal Justice. He proudly served on the MIT Police Department,  for 23 years, making sergeant in 2011.  Brian was married to Brenda Florio-Sousa for 24 years and was the proud father for two sons, Jack Florio-Sousa and Matthew Florio-Sousa.  He cherished every moment with his family and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.  Brian was his children’s biggest fan and loved watching them play sports.  He considered his family his greatest accomplishment in life and was happy as long as the boys were happy.  The beloved son of Brian and MaryEllen (Donnelly) Sousa of Taunton, MA., he inherited his love of golf and entertaining, fun-loving approach to life from his late father and his big, loving, caring heart from his mother.  Brian was always up for an adventure. He was the first one on the dance floor at any wedding, especially when The Electric Slide was spinning in the turntable. He was the first one to raise a glass in honor of someone else.  When he told you he loved you (which was often), he meant it with his whole heart.  Brian was the cherished son-in-law of Joseph and Eileen Florio and the dear brother-in-law of Maureen Jolin and her husband Michael of Sharon, MA; Joseph Florio of Hudson, MA; and David Florio of Waltham, MA. He  loved and adored his nieces Lucia and Liana Florio of Dedham, MA and Kurstin and Danica Florio of Watertown, MA.  He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Funeral from the Alexander F. Thomas & Sons Funeral Home, 45 Common Street, Walpole, MA Monday morning at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30.  Visiting hours Sunday evening from 4-8PM at the Funeral Home.  Interment at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
