Barbara A. Durand (Moriarty), Of Tiverton, Rhode Island, affectionately known as Barbara to her friends and family, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 13, 2025, in Boston, MA, formerly of Sandwich and Walpole. Born on September 7, 1967, Barbara's life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the boundless love she shared with those around her.
Barbara's journey began as the beloved daughter of the late Robert "Moe" and Barbara Moriarty. Her warmth and generosity of spirit were evident from a young age, qualities that only grew stronger as she navigated the path of life. A high school graduate with a bachelor's degree from North Adams State College, Barbara dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving her community as a community health worker. She finished her career working at South Coast Health Network. Her commitment to the well-being of others was a testament to her caring nature and her desire to make a difference.
In 2015, Barbara's heart found its match in Ryan Durand, and they married, building a life filled with mutual respect, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they cherished every moment, whether it was enjoying the simple pleasure of a meal at their favorite restaurants or basking in the beauty of a beach day. Their love was a beacon of hope and joy for all who knew them.
Barbara was a devoted mother to Cameron Yadisernia of Nashville, TN, who inherited her mother's friendly demeanor and love for life. She was also a cherished sister to Steven Moriarty and his wife Sheryl of Bridgewater, NH, Dennis Moriarty of Pawtucket, RI, Christopher Moriarty of Plymouth, and predeceased by her brothers Robert F. Moriarty Jr. and Brian Scott Moriarty. Barbara's nurturing presence extended to her many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and close friends, who will remember her as the heart of their family.
Her interests were a reflection of her zest for life and the joy she found in the company of others. Barbara's love for live music led her to many concerts, where she reveled in the melodies and rhythms that echoed her own vibrant spirit. The beach was another sanctuary for her, a place where the sun and waves soothed her soul and reminded her of the beauty in every day. Above all, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Those who knew Barbara will recall her loving, kind, and friendly nature. She had the rare ability to light up a room with her smile and put others at ease with her genuine interest in their well-being. Her legacy is one of love – a love that knew no bounds and was freely given to all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
Barbara's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of kindness, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones. As we say farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her laughter will echo in the stories we share, her wisdom in the lessons she taught us, and her love in the bonds she fortified.
Barbara A. Durand (Moriarty) will be deeply missed, but her light will never fade. It will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched, a lasting reminder of a life well-lived and a woman dearly loved.
