Alice Wasson Obituary

Alice Wasson (Roode) of Norfolk, formerly of Walpole and Boston, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Sept. 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of 40 years of the late Edward W. Wasson. Devoted mother of Scott Wasson and his wife Beth of Millbury, Laura Klobucher and her husband Ian of Norfolk, and the late Glenn Wasson. Loving “Grandma” of Sarah Klobucher, James Wasson, Jenna Klobucher, and Owen Klobucher. Sister of Sylvia Femmino of West Roxbury, and the late Charles and Edward Roode. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Alice entered the working world at the age of 16, and became a secretary after taking night classes at Burdett College. She lent her skills and dedication to several firms in Boston, including Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, a word-wide advertising agency. She loved to tell the story about a grateful client who promised her a new car, and that it never materialized.

Alice met her husband Edward dancing at Moseley’s on the Charles Ballroom in Dedham. At the birth of their first child, Alice devoted herself to her family. Her hobbies included watching old movies and her beloved soap operas “Guiding Light” and “Days of Our Lives,” participating in a local bowling league, attending meetings and trips with her fellow Red Hat Society ladies, playing Skip-Bo, and traveling on cruises. She also took great joy in visiting relatives in New Jersey, the Poconos, and Florida, and tracing her family’s history.

Alice’s family remembers her as fiercely protective and generous, with strong opinions that she wasn’t afraid to express (she was usually right). Alice’s life will be honored and remembered for the profound impact she had on those around her, and her unwavering love for her family.

Donations in Alice’s memory can be made to https://www.amegoinc.org/give-now. Amego is an organization that provided exceptional care for her son Glenn who had Down’s Syndrome. To benefit Glenn’s group home, please designate your contribution to “Redcoat Lane.”
